A Point to Ponder
The Psalmist wrote: O Lord God Almighty, who is like You? You are mighty, O Lord, and Your faithfulness surrounds You. You rule over the surging sea; when its waves mount up, You still them (Psalm 89:8-9). During His earthly life, Jesus, God’s Son, demonstrated His authority over the winds and waves. (See Mark 4:35-41 and 6:45-52.) He also taught people about the love and faithfulness of God the heavenly Father. We may trust this same almighty and faithful God in the storms of life. “Put your hand in the hand of the Man who stilled the water. Put your hand in the hand of the Man who calmed the sea.” That forty-one year old song basically encourages us to entrust ourselves to the providence of God. God is in control and God Himself is with us. Noted preacher A. W. Tozer wrote: “God is moving with infinite wisdom and perfect precision of action. No one can dissuade Him from His purposes; nothing can turn Him from His plans. Since He is omniscient, there can be no unforeseen circumstances, no accidents.” With such assurance we may sing: “Lord, I would clasp Thy hand in mine, nor ever murmur nor repine; content, whatever lot I see, since ‘tis my God that leadeth. He leadeth me, He leadeth me; by His own hand He leadeth me: His faithful follower I would be, for by His hand He leadeth me” (Hymn No. 452). Let us put our hands in the nail-scarred hand of the Man who stilled the water, who calmed the sea, who died on the cross for our sins, and who today brings inner peace and rest for the soul (Matthew 11:28-30). Pastor Jim.

From the Voice of the Martyrs: China - Pray that Chinese churches will not be daunted by threats and pressures from the government, as they are engaged in a three-phase campaign to eradicate Protestant churches but will remain faithful to Jesus (Hebrews 10:23). Pray that believers throughout China will be bold in sharing the gospel despite the difficulties they face. Pray that Christians in China will encourage one another in the face of persecution and that God will prevent the local authorities from attempting to stop house church’s meeting.
South Sudan emerged out of 20 years of civil war to become a new nation on July 9, 2011. The war resulted in much devastation of both human lives and physical property. Almost all infrastructure and educational institutions were destroyed. As the rebuilding of a nation began, the South Sudanese Government has placed a high priority on making quality education available to all children and adults. Using the expertise and partnership of The Bible League of Canada, the current Minister of Education is determined to implement Christian values through a children’s ministry program in the school system and train the nation's children in the principles of God's Word. Please pray for this kingdom work in the face of the volatile situation being faced in South Sudan today. www.bibleleague.ca
